Resin for ITO conductive film bonding: a key solution to improve performance

Feb 17, 2025 Leave a message

In the fields of display technology, touch screens, solar cells, etc., ITO (indium tin oxide) conductive film has become a core material due to its high transparency and excellent conductivity. However, the bonding stability between the ITO film and the substrate directly determines the reliability and life of the product. In response to this demand, the adhesive resin for ITO conductive film (Resin for ITO Conductive Film Adhesion) came into being and became one of the core technologies for optimizing product performance.

Why do we need adhesive resin specifically for ITO conductive film?

ITO conductive film is usually deposited on glass or flexible substrates (such as PET) by magnetron sputtering technology. However, insufficient adhesion between the ITO film layer and the substrate may cause the film layer to peel off, increase resistivity or decrease transmittance. For example, due to differences in thermal expansion coefficients, flexible substrates (such as PET) are prone to stress in high-temperature processes, affecting the uniformity of the ITO film layer. At this time, high-performance adhesive resins can effectively enhance the interfacial bonding force and ensure the stability of the film layer in complex environments.

Studies have shown that the resistivity of the ITO film layer is closely related to adhesion. When the adhesive resin is optimized, the carrier mobility of the film layer can be improved, the resistivity can be reduced to 5.83×10⁻⁴ Ω·cm, and the transmittance is maintained above 80%. In addition, the weather resistance and acid and alkali corrosion resistance of the resin can also extend the service life of the ITO conductive film in harsh environments (such as car displays and outdoor photovoltaic equipment).

Advantages of our bonding resin technology

Our Resin for ITO conductive film bonding solution is designed to target industry pain points and has the following core advantages:

1. High transparency and low interface reflection
Through the multi-layer anti-reflection design, the optical matching between the resin layer and the ITO film is significantly improved, and the visible light transmittance can reach more than 90%, reducing light loss. This feature is particularly suitable for high-precision display devices (such as OLED screens) and solar cell electrodes.

2. Excellent adhesion and temperature resistance
Using a special cross-linking process, the resin maintains stable adhesion in a wide temperature range of -30°C to 80°C, and the thermal shrinkage rate is ≤1.0%. Even on flexible substrates, it can avoid film cracking caused by bending or thermal cycling.

3. Customized compatibility
Supports a variety of substrates such as glass, PET, PC, etc., and can adjust the viscosity, curing speed and hardness of the resin to adapt to different ITO preparation processes such as sputtering, evaporation, and sol-gel. For example, for the ITO:Ti film of CIGS solar cells, our resin can further reduce the contact resistance and increase the cell conversion efficiency to 11.3%.

4. Environmental protection and cost-effectiveness
By reducing the use of indium (such as using ITO/Ag/ITO composite structure) and combining it with high adhesion resin, customers can reduce material costs by more than 20% while complying with RoHS environmental standards.
