UV ink curing principles and characteristics

UV ink uses photocurable resin as the base material of the ink. Under the irradiation of ultraviolet light, free radicals are generated by the photoinitiator, causing polymerization of the base material and photo-crosslinking reaction, thereby solidifying the ink.

Application features:

1). Instant curing, high production efficiency;

2). Does not contain volatile solvents; no solvents will corrode and damage the printed matter; will not pollute the human body and the environment;

3). The ink concentration is stable and will not cause certain adjustments due to different concentrations. Too thick or too light will cause unevenness;

4). The ink will not dry out and has no stench of solvent;

5). The light curing speed is extremely fast, the UV equipment is small and takes up less factory space;

6). The UV lamp emits Heat will not cause damage to those printed materials that are afraid of heat;

7). Transparent or translucent ink has fast hardening speed and good color effect.

Curing principle of UV ink: UV ink selectively absorbs UV photons, and its drying is affected by the total energy of light radiated by the UV light source and the distribution of light energy of different wavelengths. Under the irradiation of UV light, the photopolymerization initiator in UV ink absorbs photons of a certain wavelength and is excited to an excited state to form free radicals or ions. Then, through the transfer of energy between molecules, polymers such as polymerizable prepolymers and photosensitive monomers become excited states, producing charge transfer complexes. These complexes are continuously cross-linked and polymerized, and solidified to form a film.
